The Futures trading desk will include new hires Suraj Raythatha as vice president and Allison Carley as a director focusing on the sales and trading of energy instruments.

According to the BTIG, the Futures trading desk will provide customizable, real time solutions that align with institutional client demand for discreet execution and unique post-trade requirements.

The execution desk will be staffed by traders with an average of over 10 years of experience in Futures, and provides access to 35 plus global markets and more than 1,500 products. This includes specialty markets such as the London Metals Exchange (LME) and the energy complex, both listed products and OTC.

Gagnon will join BTIF from RBC Capital Markets, where he was director of sales for Futures and commodities. Over a 20-year career working in Canada, Asia and New York, he has managed businesses in FX, e-FX and futures at the Bank of Montreal, State Street Bank and Morgan Stanley.

Raythatha will join from RBC Capital Markets, where he was a base metals sales trader in the Futures division. He also worked in RBC’s Toronto and Calgary offices in the equity sales trading and energy equity research groups covering Canadian E&P producers.

Prior to BTIG, Carley was with Tullett Prebon Americas, where she was a member of the oil products and biofuels team focusing on physical and financial ethanol and RIN brokerage.

Prior to Tullett Prebon, she brokered oil products, including heating oil and gasoline, at the London-based Spectron Energy, a subsidiary of the Imarex Group.
