BofA Merrill Lynch global research has named Matthew Sharratt as South Africa economist within the emerging EMEA economics team. He will relocate from London to Cape Town and will report to David Hauner, head of BofA Merrill Lynch emerging EMEA economics research.

Mr. Sharratt joined Bank of America, in 2004 in his current role as a European economist, and previously worked as an economist at the Confederation of British Industry, the UK’s business lobby organisation.

Ilze Roux, head of BofA Merrill Lynch South Africa Research, said: “I am very pleased Mr. Sharratt will be coming home as part of the global economics team to cover South Africa economics. His experience of working internationally coupled with his local knowledge and strong alliance with the BofA Merrill Lynch emerging markets economics team will add value to our client base.”
