Hani Kablawi, currently based in Dubai, takes over as head of client management for EMEA with responsibility for country management and franchise clients across all business lines and products in that region. While his new role is based in London, Mr Kablawi will retain his role as chairman of the Middle East & Africa region.
Tarek Elrefai, currently regional executive for Egypt and North Africa, will be relocating to Dubai to take over as head of client management for the MEA region, with responsibility for country management and franchise clients in the Middle East & Africa.
Janet Johnstone, Dubai-based chief administrative officer for the MEA region is named senior executive officer of BNY Mellon’s bank branch located in the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC) and, in addition to her existing management duties, will be responsible for ensuring the businesses operating out of the branch conduct their activities in accordance with regulatory requirements.
Howover, Mr Elrefai and Ms Johnstone will continue to report to Mr Kablawi.
Mr Kablawi said: “Since we received our licence to operate from the DIFC in June 2008, BNY Mellon has made great strides in terms of meeting our growth aspirations and our ability to offer our clients an enhanced level of service, and under Mr Elrefai and Ms Johnstone’s leadership we will be well placed to take our plans in the region to the next level.”
