Hautekiet’s appointment is still pending as it is subject to regulatory approval and he is expected to succeed Paul Bodart who is retiring following 17 years with the company.

Currently, Hautekiet is deputy general counsel for BNY Mellon across the Europe, Middle East and Africa region.

BNY Mellon chairman, president and CEO Gerald Hassell said that Wim Hautekiet is very well placed to take the company’s European banking entity to the next level of development.

"Paul Bodart has made a tremendous contribution to our business over the past 17 years for which we thank him," Hassell said.

Headquartered in Brussels, The Bank of New York Mellon SA/NV currently has branches in Amsterdam, Frankfurt, London, Luxembourg, and Paris and offers asset servicing, collateral management, and trustee services.
