BNP Paribas has appointed Jacques Michel as CEO and country manager for BNP Paribas India. He will succeed Frederic Amoudru, who was in the position for 6 years. In his new capacity, Mr Michel will be responsible for further enhancing the growth of BNP Paribas’ franchise with an emphasis on extending client coverage and intensifying links with the Indian business community.

Prior to joining BNP Paribas India, Mr Michel was deputy CEO and chief risk officer of Fortis Asia Pacific based in Hong Kong since January 2008. He has worked in Asia for 18 years, 10 of which have been in Hong Kong.

Mr Michel said: “I am deeply honored and enthused to be working at BNP Paribas and heading its Indian operations. BNP Paribas has a strong presence in India and a clear ambition to grow both organically and through partnerships, as India is a strategic country for the group. Our success in India will essentially rely on BNP Paribas’ talents and the dedication of our teams.

“In my opinion local knowledge, networking and long lasting relationships are key factors for strong franchise in India. I am excited and energized by the opportunity to sustain the growth and improve our ability to serve our clients effectively and efficiently.”
