Since 2004, BMO Financial Group was operating in Australia, when BMO Capital Markets launched a representative office in Melbourne offering investment and corporate banking services to global clients doing business in the Asia Pacific region.

Ravi Sriskandarajah has been appointed as managing director of BMO Global Asset Management, who will be based in Melbourne to oversee business operations.

He will supervise a team of multi-disciplined asset managers based in Toronto and Chicago, and a global network of investment specialist boutiques based in Miami, Toronto, London, Mumbai, and Hong Kong.

BMO Financial Group private client group president and CEO Gilles Ouellette said the company will now be able to provide its current and potential clients more investment options to choose from and easier access to its global network and wide expertise.

The expansion of BMO Global Asset Management into Australia follows the 2012 opening of an office in Abu Dhabi.

BMO Global Asset Management managed more than C$130bn in assets under management as of 30 April 2013, including discretionary and non-discretionary assets.
