The bank said a total of 60 banking executives have been hired in Vancouver and Victoria and intents to recruit an additional 90 in Alberta, Ontario, Quebec and the Atlantic provinces in this year.

The employees will be stationed at BMO Bank of Montreal branches and serve the needs of small businesses with sales up to $5m.

Recruitment drive follows a trail of BMO’s new small business program in British Columbia.

BMO Bank of Montreal personal and commercial banking president and CEO Frank Techar said that small business is the engine of innovation and job creation in Canada, and the bank is making a commitment to aggressively enhance the support of this sector.

BMO Bank of Montreal senior vice president of commercial banking said that bank will have dedicated banking specialists in the branches who understand the unique challenges of the small business owner.

"Through in-depth conversations with our customers, these experts will be able to help business owners find financial solutions for both their business and personal needs," Cocker said.
