Alex will report to Rob Fairbairn, head of BlackRock’s Global Client Group (GCG) and James Charrington, chairman of the EMEA Region for BlackRock.

"Since joining BlackRock in 1997, Alex has held a wide variety of roles within retail, giving him a deep knowledge of how best to serve our clients," Fairbairn added.

"Alex’s goal is to continue growing the retail business within EMEA, where we have the second largest international cross-border business as measured by assets under management."

Alex said that at a time when yields were at historical low, volatile markets and scarce confidence among investors, the new role will provide an opportunity to help the firm’s clients to manage money.

In 2009, BlackRock appointed Duncan as head of retail sales for EMEA, and before this role he worked as the head of UK Retail since 2007 and head of UK Retail Sales since 2005.

BlackRock runs its businesses empire in 27 nations across the world and provides separate accounts, mutual funds, iShares (exchange-traded funds), and other pooled investment vehicles.
