The bank expects that this reorganization will enable it to adjust to the profound transformation of the operating methods within private banking and to the growing regulatory framework, both in size and complexity, governing all aspects of bank business.

As part of the restructuring, the financing activities of the BCGE in favor of large companies, institutions and banks, together with commodity trading will be conducted in two distinct entities: the International Customer division (ICT) and the Corporate and Institutional Customer division (CORP).

BCGE said that the ICT unit will cover the financing and advisory activities for Swiss or foreign companies based in Geneva and will primarily focus on the international market.

The ICT unit will headed by Pierre-Olivier Fragniere, who has held executive positions in the BCGE for several years.

The Corporate and Institutional Customer division will focus its resources on financing and advisory services for Geneva-based and Swiss companies, as well as those located regionally in Rhone-Alpes.

Claude Bagnoud, a member of the executive board since 2001, will head the CORP unit.

The private banking division has been restructured segmentally, based on the market of specialized units, some linked to the International Customer division, the others, focusing on Geneva-based business activities, linked to the private customer and Genevan SME division.

The bank said that its private banking division will be headed by Johan Bernard Alexander Kroon, who is a member of the executive board since 2002.

BCGE chairman of the executive board Blaise Goetschin said that the primary aim of this organization is to tailor the bank’s competence and skills as close as possible to the various customer categories, in order to speed up reaction times, increase the density of advisory services and broaden the choices of financial solutions.
