Archie played a key role in Barclays’ acquisition of Lehman Brothers’ North American assets and was an instrumental part of the management team that guided the firm through the credit crisis.
Cox joined Barclays three years ago after a long career in the global financial services industry that included positions as CEO of Morgan Stanley International and president and CEO of CS First Boston Corporation.
From 1995 until 2005 he was president and CEO of Magnequench, a manufacturer of rare earth magnetic materials and magnets.
In his role as chairman of Barclays Americas Cox has worked closely with the leadership of the firm, enhanced client relationships, and deepened the investment banking platform in the US, Brazil and Mexico.
Barclays chief executive Bob Diamond said through his service and dedication, Archie has made Barclays’ business in the Americas stronger and more effective.
Cox said he remain extremely enthusiastic about Barclays’ opportunities for growth in the Americas. The leadership team here is even stronger now than it was three years ago.
