Based in Hong Kong, Cheung will also leverage the capabilities of Barclays Capital – the investment banking division of Barclays- in providing client-focused solutions to cater to the sophisticated needs of affluent client segment.
She will report to Pakorn Boonyakurkul, head of North Asia.
Cheung has over 27 years of private banking and investment banking experience, including senior roles at Citi and JPMorgan previously.
At HSBC since 2000, she was managing director, relationship management (Mega-Wealth Asia), where she focused on relationships in the segment of mega-wealth clients, and was responsible for managing their private and business wealth management needs.
In addition, Barclays Wealth hired Christian Kwek as new managing director of Ultra High Net Worth (UHNW) team.
Based in London and Kwek will report to Stefanie Drews, head of UHNW and Family Offices, UK & EMEA and Henry Fischel Bock, head of the London office for the International Private Bank, EMEA.
Kwek previously spent eight years at BNP Paribas, most recently as head of the Equity Derivatives Group in London.
