In his new role, Contractor will drive customer service innovation and technology across UK Retail and Business Banking, ranging from product design to improvements to the branch network and customer contact centres.
Contractor will report jointly to Ashok Vaswani, CEO of Barclays UK Retail and Business Banking, and Shaygan Kheradpir, COO of Barclays Retail and Business Banking.
Kheradpir said that Rumi is a highly seasoned business leader with a strong track record for strategic thinking, hands-on execution and building strong teams who collaborate and innovate to improve the customer experience.
Contractor will join Barclays from HSBC where he has been global head of service delivery and CEO of Global Resourcing since 2008.
He also has held a number of senior positions at HSBC including chief information officer of HSBC Securities and Investment Bank for New York; CEO of HSBC Software Development Centre India; chief information officer of Europe; chief information officer of South America and CEO of Global Technology.
