France-based Ingenico said it will be piloted with an international retailer in the UK and Germany.
According to Ingenico, the pilot aims to demonstrate that a single payment solution based on a SEPA-compliant payment application and the ISO20022 EPAS Acquirer protocol allow international retailers to accept all general purpose cards across the Single Euro Payment Area.
Ingenico added that the pilot is scheduled to start in both countries at the beginning of 2012 and will be extended to other European countries during 2012.
Ingenico head of SEPA Implementation Ottilia Rouguet said through this pilot with Barclaycard, Ingenico intends to demonstrate to their customers the availability of new SEPA compliant standards based single payment solution, opening the door for new era of electronic payments in Europe.
"This project is in line with the expectations of International Retailers to have a unique payment solution throughout the region working in every country where they operate in," added Rouguet.
