Bank of Nova Scotia (BNS), the Canada-based retail, commercial, corporate, investment and international banking services provider, has appointed Sunil Kashyap as global capital-markets regional head for the Asia-Pacific region – reported Wall Street Journal.

He will report to Mike Durland, group head of global capital markets and co-chief executive at Scotia Capital and to Barry Wainstein, global head of foreign exchange and precious metals, reported the newspaper. .

According to an internal memo reviewed by Dow Jones, Mr. Kashyap will continue to head the precious metals unit – ScotiaMocatta and foreign exchange, despite looking after Scotia Capital’s activities in the region.

Mr. kashyap joined the bank in Asia 12 years ago as part of the bank’s acquisition of Mocatta Bullion and subsequently became head of the unit in 2001. He has prior experience in an international financial-services institution in India and in Dubai for about eight years.
