Bank of East Asia’s basic earnings per share rose to HK$2.65, compared to HK$2.24 per share in 2006. Return on assets and return on equity were 1.2% and 14.6% respectively for 2007.
The bank’s total operating income for 2007 was HK$8,814 million, an increase of 16.5% over the HK$7,564 million recorded in the corresponding period in 2006. The net interest income grew by 19.6% to HK$5,977 million compared to the HK$4,999 million reported for the same period in 2006.
