The new office will house both English- and Spanish-speaking workers, who will provide British expatriates with help and guidance on all aspects of buying a second home in Spain.

At present, Banco Halifax Hispania has 21 branches across Spain, including a branch in Santa Ponca in Mallorca that opened in June 2006. Furthermore, the group plans to open three more branches away from mainland Spain during 2007 in the Canary Islands, Fuerteventura and Menorca.

Ian Smith, head of European operations at Halifax, said: This latest development in Puerto Pollenca is evidence of our commitment to making Banco Halifax Hispania more accessible to its customers. We will continue to target the Spanish Islands to complement our successful mainland business.
