The launch of the card services in the Brunei will allow UnionPay cardholders to use their cards at ATMs and POS machines in country.
In March 2010, UnionPay opened the business of swiping UnionPay card for payment at merchants in Brunei in collaboration with Baiduri Bank and expanded the scope to cover over 80% of high-end retail outlets, hotels and restaurants in Brunei.
The two parties strengthened their cooperation this time to jointly issue UnionPay debit card, with UnionPay logo on card face, to provide new choice of payment product to local residents, which could be conveniently used in UnionPay network extended to cover more than 100 countries and regions.
Baiduri Bank general manager of Pierre Imhof said that UnionPay card brought about a steady stream of customers for Baiduri Bank and its merchants and Baiduri Bank won new market and value while providing high quality card use service to these customers.
