B Riley & Co, an investment bank specializing in the needs of middle market, publicly traded companies and institutional investors, continues the expansion with new appointments in its Southern California offices, according to Tom Kelleher.

The firm appointed Nicholas Capuano at institutional sales department in Los Angeles. Grant Hustedt is appointed as an associate in the corporate finance department in the firm’s Newport Beach office.

In his new role, Mr Capuano will be managing the firm’s coverage of select accounts nationwide, with an emphasis in New York. He joins from Imperial Capital, where he was director of equity research, covering special situations. Prior to that, Mr Capuano served at Trust Company of the West’s (TCW) investment management for 14 years, where he was portfolio manager for the TCW small and mid cap growth product.

Mr Hustedt will be responsible for providing industry research, deal structuring, client services, financial modeling, due diligence and other transactional support to both public and private companies. Previously, he served as tax senior at Deloitte Tax.
