The private banker said that the hiring is part of increasing the company’s capabilities to offer discretionary investment management and banking services to IFA’s, solicitors and accountants.

Arbuthnot Latham has also appointed Kevin Rait as business development manager.

In their roles, Syms and Rait will be responsible to enhance company’s relationships with key professionals and they will act as a dedicated point of contact for IFA’s, solicitors and accountants.

Syms has more than 10 years of marketing and sales experience as well as knowledge of the financial services industry having worked for both TD Waterhouse and Brooks Macdonald Asset Management.

With over 10 years of experience in the IFA market place, Rait will join from Zurich Intermediary Group, where he was a senior sales consultant in its Reigate branch.

Prior to that Rait helped launch The Hartford in the UK and spent four years at Fidelity Investments.

Arbuthnot Latham CEO Dean Proctor said that the the appointment of Gareth and Kevin forms part of the strategy to extend further the firm’s presence in the professional adviser market.
