Capital Funding Bancorp, a Maryland-based commercial mortgage lender, which acquired AmericasBank and its three Maryland branches in August, is renaming the institution and each branch as CFG Community Bank as part of its efforts to strengthen the institution and build its presence in the Maryland market.

AmericasBank previously operated as Towson Community Bank, Annapolis Community Bank and AmericasBank in Maryland. All three branches remain open and serving customers. However, the headquarters for the newly-named bank will be moved to the CFG Tower in Baltimore, Maryland.

Jack Dwyer, chairman of Capital Funding Bancorp, said: “This bank is part of the CFG family and that means it will be strong, well-capitalized and capable of providing a whole range of services, especially for small businesses. But we are also keeping this a community bank. This is our community: These aren’t just customers, these are our friends and neighbors. We are especially proud that we accomplished so much without any federal money, without any funds coming from the TARP program.”
