The bank’s Premier Direct current account will now receive an interest rate of 6.1%, while its linked Premier Regular Saver account will now offer 12%. However, the offer is open only to new customers.

The Premier Direct account, which offers customers access to the account online, by phone and through ATMs, offers the interest rate until the end of September 2007, after which it will fall to 1% below the Bank of England base rate. Its Premier account is offering an interest rate of 1.5%, but includes free European travel insurance and an interest free overdraft for 12 months.

Both Premier and Premier Direct accounts give the account holders the option of opening a Premier Regular Saver account which is now offering an interest rate of 12% – although the account is subject to several conditions and can only be opened at the time of opening a Premier current account.
