Apart from allowing customers to benefit from the Aeroplan program, a full suite of co-branded Aeroplan Visa credit cards will be offered by TD.

TD Bank Group North American Credit Cards and Merchant Services Executive Vice President Michael Rhodes said, "We are thrilled to have this opportunity to work with Aeroplan to offer even more choice to our customers, and to grow the premium travel segment of our credit card portfolio.

"The co-branded Aeroplan credit cards will complement TD’s already strong line-up of cards, and allow our customers to select from an even wider range of options for earning great travel rewards."

Customers will be provided a choice to select from enhanced premium, premium and mid-market co-branded Aeroplan credit cards in order to leverage different benefits and rates as per requirement.

A credit card for US residents and a credit card for Canadian small business owners will also be included in the new co-branded credit card line-up.

Currently, TD, Aimia and CIBC are in a broad framework discussion to allow CIBC retain cards held by their franchise banking customers, while the remaining would be acquired by TD.

An agreement, including complete due diligence and finalized definitive documentation, may be reached by 26 August 2013.
