DeRooij comes from Standard Chartered Bank in Singapore, where she recently served as the regional head South-East Asia for small and medium enterprises.

Besides working as global head of natural resources and commodity trading, she had served as group chief operating officer for the wholesale bank client business globally.

Originally, DeRooij started her career as a management trainee at ABN AMRO in the Netherlands in 1990 and later as head of global structured commodity finance for North America.

She also spearheaded the global structured commodity product group at Citibank based in New York.

ABN AMRO large corporates & merchant banking global head Rutger van Nouhuijs said Asia is a significant region for the bank’s international businesses and future growth and Maureen will assist further build its offering for clients and boost presence in the regions.

The firm has private banking, large corporates & merchant banking, clearing and markets operations in Asia-Pacific, and covers the region from offices in Hong Kong, Shanghai, Singapore, Sydney and Tokyo.
