Caffray previously served as Tiger Management head trader, senior managing director, and member of the management committee.

He left Tiger in 2000, after eight years, to co-found FrontPoint Partners, where he was chairman and co-portfolio manager of the FrontPoint Multi-Strategy Fund.

Upon the acquisition of FrontPoint by Morgan Stanley Investment Management (MSIM) in December 2006, Caffray became vice-chairman of MSIM. He later served as CEO of Touradji Capital Management. He remains a special advisor to Touradji.

Tiger Management chairman Julian Robertson said he couldn’t be more pleased that Gil has decided to rejoin Tiger, as the firm embarks on the next stage of its development.

"He is as savvy and experienced and respected an individual as there is in our industry," Robertson said.
