The firm is also planning to invest in LP Capital Partners’ inaugural fund, Lawrence Park Credit Strategies Fund in March 2012.

According to the acquirer, it will also cater administrative services to the fund and assist LP Capital Partners in developing and implementing a growth strategy in order to achieve the desired result.

Lawrence Park founder David Fry said the firm is pleased to partner with one of Canada’s largest and most successful asset managers, with a prominent and trusted brand and industry-leading expertise in portfolio management, administration and client service.

"This partnership will accelerate our growth plans and vastly expand the expertise and service backing our firm and the fund", said Fry.

CI chief executive Stephen MacPhail said it has identified an exceptional opportunity for growth and a firm that can benefit from CI’s support.

As on 31 January 2012, CI Financial owns nearly $93.2bn in assets, which also offers a wide range of investment products and services, including an industry-leading selection of investment funds.
