While customers of American Express, NatWest, Royal Bank of Scotland and Banco Santander with an iPhone 6, 6 Plus or Apple Watch will be able to make use of the platform, the customers of the other two banks have been left out for now.

Apple had announced in June that the platform would be available for customers at over 250,000 locations with the support of eight banks including HSBC. Currently, Barclays supports the service in the US.

However, HSBC informed that it had not pulled out of the service and will launch in July.

Customers will be able to use Apple Pay at places like Costa Coffee, Dune, JD Sports, KFC UK & Ireland, Liberty, LIDL, Marks & Spencer (M&S), McDonald’s UK and Nando’s, among others. Transport for London will also accept Apple Pay.

However, currently payments have been restricted to transactions of up to £20 ($31) that will be increased to £30 ($46) in September.

A research by Visa Europe revealed that 60% of Apple product users were interested in paying for goods and services using their mobile phone.
