The bank has launched its Visa and MasterCard cards with EDS, and plans to have a volume of three million cards in the next six years.
EDS is no stranger to the Brazilian card market; last year the outsourcer inked 10-year, $209m contract extension Visanet, the global transaction processor for whom EDS had been handling processing and other support services since 1996. The new midrange platform is intended to provide card issuers with a less expensive and more flexible market route than with mainframes, EDS said.
EDS said it processes 4.5 million cards annually in Brazil and holds the top spot in the country’s card market. Last year Fidelity, Banco Bradesco, and ABN Amro formed Fidelity Processadora e Servicos, a card processing joint venture.
