This marks Montagu’s first direct investment in Poland, and its second investment in Central and Eastern Europe (CEE).
The deal is part of Telekomunikacja Polska, a France Telecom’s unit in Poland, plan to divest non-core assets.
Emitel has a book value of $175m, which will let Telekomunikacja Polska to book an additional $420m in gross income for 2011.
The transaction is expected to close subject to competition clearance from UOKiK – Office of Competition and Consumer Protection.
Michal Chalaczkiewicz, Montagu director responsible for CEE activities said Emitel provides essential services in attractive and growing markets.
