Through the partnership, GTBank has launched its first platinum MasterCard credit card in Kenya, a move that will cater to the increasing demand for enhanced card products in the nation’s middle class segment.

EMP East & Southern Africa managing director Wayne Harris said: "Our collaboration with GTBank is based on a shared ambition for the people using East Africa’s financial infrastructure.

"GTBank’s focus on this area and their plans to deploy new payment services in a range of countries makes them an ideal partner."

By using MasterCard branded cards, GTBank customers can access their bank accounts 24 hours a day via the bank’s ATM network and at any other MasterCard branded ATMs and at Points of Sale (POS) across the country and all around the world.

GTBank East Africa managing director Ibukun Odegbaike said: "The GTBank Platinum MasterCard enables us to provide our affluent customers with a financial product that meets their constantly changing banking needs.

"We are passionate about innovation and pleased to work with MasterCard and EMP to develop market relevant payment products and solutions."
