mobile banking

EnStream’s secure and standardized mobile payment services are claimed to enable credit, debit and pre-paid cards offered by all participating financial institutions, across all wireless carriers in Canada.

Its services, which can be used as an alternative to solutions offered by other international technology brands, allows banks to maintain their direct relationship with customers through their own banking or payment applications.

Scotiabank has become one of the six largest financial institutions in Canada to use EnStream’s payment services for connectivity to mobile subscribers.

EnStream COO Almis Ledas said: "Global organizations are becoming increasingly aware that collaborative platforms are necessary for the growth of mobile payments.

"EnStream is proud that Canada is recognized around the world as an example of a market that is successfully bringing secure and consistent mobile payment services to market."

Scotiabank, which already serves Rogers subscribers, will now provide its customer-focused mobile wallet solutions Bell, TELUS, Virgin and Koodo subscribers.

Currently, Canada alone has a central mobile credential management hub that connects banks through a single point of contact, to mobile subscribers.

Over eight million smartphones in Canada now support mobile payments.

The number of NFC SIM cards also required for SIM based mobile payments, has doubled to over 4 million during the first six months of the year in the country.
