Boonyakurkul will lead the bankers based in Hong Kong, leading the wealth management business across Greater China and North Asia.
In his new role, Boonyakurkul will also join the Barclays Wealth Asia Pacific management committee, and report to Didier von Daeniken, CEO of Barclays Wealth Asia Pacific.
In a banking career spanning 30 years, including 25 years in private banking, Boonyakurkul has assumed senior leadership roles in various financial institutions including Citi Private Bank and Bankers’ Trust.
Most recently, Boonyakurkul was at HSBC Private Bank, overseeing 200 employees, and responsible for both the onshore and offshore private banking business in the markets of Japan and Taiwan, the offshore Philippines as well as the Non Resident Indian segment, over the past eight years.
Von Daeniken said that with his expertise in building teams and delivering results, Pakorn will play a key role in charting the next phase of growth for Barclays Wealth in North Asia, as it continue to build out the capabilities in serving the complex needs of wealth management clients.
