Societe Generale, is planning to increase its information technology (IT) offshoring activity – reported BusinessWeek. Reportedly, the France-based banking giant established Societe Generale Global Solution Centre (SGGSC), its IT/BPO captive centre in Bangalore in 2000.

At present, SGGSC is involved in three main lines of activity – application development, BPO and infrastructure management services and has chiefly been focussing on the corporate investment banking division of Societe Generale. According to the newspaper, the bank intends to broadbase its services, which, untill, have been dominated by application development. The bank, which has IT outsourcing contractts with Indian players like Wipro, TCS and CapGemini, among others, is also expected to streamline these relationships.

Nippi Kochhar, CEO of Societe Generale Global Solution Centre, said: “We will be expanding our human resources to over 3,000 by 2012 and will be doing this very tactically. We would like the best operating model depending on the competencies of each player,” reported the newspaper.
