Barclays Capital, the investment banking division of Barclays Bank, has appointed Joseph Gatto as chairman of investment banking for the Americas. Mr Gatto will be based in New York and will continue to report to Hugh McGee, head of global investment banking. Prior to the appointment in Barclays Capital, Mr Gatto served as co-head of corporate finance in the investment banking division of Barclays Capital.

In this newly created position, Mr Gatto will focus on building and expanding senior relationships with many of Barclays Capital’s important clients, providing them strategic advice on mergers and acquisitions and capital markets activities.
