The survey has revealed that half of the Turkish community don’t have a budget at all where as only 28.5% of people 35 years and above create a household budget and stick to it. Most trustworthy guidance for economic decisions are from family, friends and statements and information from public ministers: 82% of the public stated that their family is their main source of investment information, whereas 47% depend on friends and 46.5% depend on statements by the Prime Minister and other Ministers.
Steve Bideshi, chairman of Citibank, said: The results of the public opinion survey on the spending and saving habits of the Turkish community point out the importance of the individual’s consciousness on saving in Turkey as it is in many countries. The survey results point out that it is significant for both the young population to guide the future of Turkey and the adults to understand the importance of saving and thus develop conscious consumption and consumer habits.
