The payment program has already been successful tested in New York City, Boston, Louisville, Minneapolis, as well as Madison and both are gearing up for the first national roll out of the service.

As part of the alliance, Heartland’s over 800-person sales force and a customer base of more than 250,000 merchant locations will implement LevelUp’s mobile payment and loyalty platform to merchants in the US.

It will also allow users to save time and money by paying with their iPhone, Android or Windows phones at their favorite merchants.

Heartland network solutions group president Ian Drysdale said, "The partnership provides consumers with another method of payment acceptance while merchants have the opportunity to further increase their bottom lines by meeting the payment demands of today’s tech-savvy consumers."

LevelUp will leverage Heartland’s scalable, multi-site authorization and settlement network, currently capable of 3000 transactions per second.

The companies will also co-promote white-labeled applications for businesses with multiple locations, allowing them to offer a fully branded mobile payment equipped with zero payment processing fees.
