The operation provides various financial services such as global custody, fund administration, investment operations outsourcing and asset management services for institutional clients in the region.
Prior to accepting the current position, Ovaert was working as the chief executive officer of Northern Operating Services in India, which has a work strength of over 3,000 staff performing back- and middle-office investment services for its clients.

Ovaert has also been Asia-Pacific regional head of operations & technology (O&T) for Northern Trust since 2012, which he will retain with the new responsibility.
Prior to joining India’s operation, he served in executive roles in London and Chicago, including senior business unit risk officer for O&T, European regional head of O&T and worldwide head of fund administration, since joining in 1992.
Northern Trust manages offices in 18 US states and 17 international locations in North America, Europe, the Middle East and the Asia-Pacific region. It had assets under custody of $5 trillion, and assets under investment of $810.2bn, as of 31 March 2013.
