Khalpey, who joined Renaissance in January 2010, retains his responsibilities as head of sales for Africa.
Based in Johannesburg, he has a dual reporting line to Clifford Sacks, CEO of Renaissance Capital in Africa, and Yonatan Gozdanker, global head of Cash Equities.
Sacks said since joining Renaissance Capital, Ali has made a significant contribution to their Sub-Saharan Africa business, and they are pleased to expand his role in one of their fastest-growing regions.
Before joining Renaissance Capital, Khalpey spent eight years at Investec Bank as global head of South Africa equity sales in London and New York, and established Investec’s New York business.
Prior to that, he was a fund manager at BlackRock for five years, where he managed the Middle East and Africa funds.
