In his new role, Tsao will be responsible for spearheading Barclays Capital’s financing and risk management franchise for corporate clients and financial intermediaries throughout Greater China.

Based in Hong Kong, he will provide senior coverage for clients in identifying and capturing business opportunities across the complete spectrum of capital raising and risk management, said Barclays Capital.

Tsao, who has over 20 years of experience in investment banking, joins Barclays Capital from Morgan Stanley where he was managing director in the Institutional Equities division.

Previously, Tsao served as president of China Development Industrial Bank in Taiwan. Prior to this he held a number of management roles across capital markets at UBS, Goldman Sachs and Citibank.

Barclays Capital co-heads of Global Finance and Risk Solutions for Asia Pacific Patrick Kwan and Andy Jones said Philip’s appointment will continue the growth of Barclays Capital’s successful businesses in Greater China where their focus on the client remains their most important attribute.
