Schmoelz will focus on the growth of the RBS Global Network Banking franchise and how it will continue to go from strength to strength in supporting the bank’s multi-national enterprise clients and their regional subsidiaries.
RBS Global Network Banking is responsible for the coverage of subsidiaries of multinational corporates, and a key focus area for growth in RBS. Global Network Banking services over 4,000 subsidiaries of multinational clients in Asia delivering cash (payments & liquidity), trade and supply chain, and merchant acquiring products and services in multiple currencies across multiple time zones.
This is the second key hire for the Global Network Banking APAC business this year, Jonathan Jiang was appointed in April as Global Network Banking head in China.
Paul McDonagh, head of Global Network Banking for RBS, said Manfred Schmoelz will bring 21 years of experience in Corporate Banking, 15 of those in Asia, to his role with RBS.

Schmoelz will be based in Singapore and will report into Paul McDonagh, Matthew Kirkby and Alan Goodyear, as head of Global Transaction Services APAC.
Previously Schmoelz acted as chief country officer for Thailand at Deutsche Bank. He was responsible for all of Deutsche Bank’s local business lines and employees, and its relationship with Thailand’s banking regulators, central bank, and other institutions. Prior to this role, he was Deutsche Bank’s head of Corporate Banking Coverage for Asia Pacific.
