Commenting on the new appointment, State Street chairman, president and chief executive officer Joseph Hooley said, Tom expertise will be beneficial for the company in the ever evolving economic and regulatory environment.

Wilson joined Allstate in 1995 and most recently was serving as the chairman, president and chief executive officer of the firm, the company said.

Prior to that, he served at Sears, Roebuck & Company and Dean Witter Reynolds, where he was responsible for strategy as well as mergers and acquisitions.

The company offers investment strategies to institutional investors including investment servicing, investment management and investment research and trading.

As of 30 September 2012, the company had $23.4 trillion in assets under custody and administration and $2.1 trillion in assets under management, and trades in over 29 countries and more than 100 geographic markets.
